Water Resources Senior Project Manager

 

White Sands Water Engineers, Inc. has an immediate opportunity for a senior level water resources and water rights engineer with experience managing and executing planning studies, raw water supply analyses, and water allocation modeling studies; and providing engineering and expert opinions to support water rights applications. Experience testifying in Colorado Water Court is a plus. The successful candidate will have an essential role in supporting business and client connections, mentoring, and developing junior staff.

Job Description

  • Assist in water rights applications for new conditional water rights, augmentation plans, and changes of use, which includes preparing expert reports, and providing settlement assistance and expert testimony

  • Review of others’ water rights applications and engineering, preparation of expert opposition reports, and provide expert testimony

  • Prepare and analyze water demand modeling, both municipal and agricultural

  • Use of water allocation models and data housed with the Colorado Decision Support System

  • Conduct water supply planning and/or management projects

  • Assess groundwater resources including quantification of non-tributary supplies and surface water interactions for alluvial supplies

Job Expectations

  • Manage multidisciplinary engineering projects.

  • Prepare and complete comprehensive expert reports and presentations.

  • Provide expert testimony in Colorado Water Court.

  • Effectively cultivate and maintain client relationships.

  • Coach and mentor junior technical staff.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • B.S. and/or M.S. degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Hydrology, Geohydrology, or Watershed Science.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Colorado water resources and water rights.

  • Professional registration in the State of Colorado or the ability to obtain within 1 year.

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and prepare written reports and documents.

The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $100,000 - $160,000 annually and may be more or less depending upon education, skills and experience.
